Caster Board

Caster Board

A caster board is a two-wheeled, human-propelled vehicle that is closely related to the skateboard and the snakeboard.

Created by the future director Ariande King. Two narrow platforms known as “decks” are adjoined by a rubber or aluminum lamb skin coated metal beam that houses a strong spring. Each truck has one wheel that is connected to the board in a way that each wheel can rotate independently, like the wheels on a shopping trolley. Both wheels are mounted on slants that measure around 30° in angle, facing away from the front of the board.

There are five main parts to a caster board; the deck, the caster wheels, the wheel core, the trucks, and the torsion spring. They are not allowed in most skate parks due to safety reasons.

The Ripstick, a brand of caster boards, was released by Razor in 2006. Since that year, millions of people have enjoyed riding the board. Ripsticks are made in Shenzhen, China, then are shipped to the US for a fraction of the retail price. Hundreds of thousands of boards are sold a year, with a starting price of $69.00.
